About the Author
Theresa L. White is a professor of Psychology at Le Moyne College and an adjunct associate professor in Neuroscience and Physiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Boise State University. Both of her higher degrees in experimental psychology are from English universities; her Masters of Science degree is from Oxford University (New College) and her PhD is from the University of Warwick. Dr. White's research is concerned with cognitive aspects of olfaction, or the way that people think about smells and flavors. She currently teaches Research Methods, Sensation and Perception, and Brain and Behavior. Dr. White lives in Syracuse, New York, where winters sometimes bring more than 180 inches of snow. When the lakes are frozen, Dr. White fills her time with travel and by singing in a gospel choir. Once the water will allow it, she enjoys racing her Hobie 16 sailboat.

DO NOT GET KINDLE EBOOK!!!!

I just rented the Kindle ebook for my class. I however didn't read anywhere that half of my chapter was going to be gone with just the words "Text not available due to copyright restrictions." UMM HELLO!!!! I KIND OF NEED THAT INFORMATION FOR MY EXAM!!!!! Did I not just spend $50 to read this book… and it's missing half my chapter!!!! Thanks for letting everyone know that there would be missing information in the digital copy…… Not impressed….. I have never had this problem with any other site I rent ebooks from…. Will not rent an ebook from Amazon again….

This was actually the international version and on the cover of the book it states to not use it for instructional purposes which was the purpose of me buying the book in the firs place.

just the basics

While I used the previous 7th edition for the class, I found that the differences between the older edition and this one were minimal. If you're looking for comprehensive coverage of research methods for psychology, you won't find it here. This is really a bare-bones textbook that just gives the basics, not much else. If you're just looking to pass your undergraduate psychology methods course, this will easily suffice. On the other hand, if you're looking to gain a deeper understanding of how to conduct research in psychology (for example, for the purposes of conducting honors research and writing a thesis or for graduate study), I suggest you find a more advanced textbook.
