I thought the book started a little bit slow but then it picked up. Love Lucky and Trista I thought the author did a great job with sharing their emotions and their inner turmoil. During the road trip you learn a lot about Tristas suffering in life, her past hurts and a glimpse of the person she wants to be. Lucky is one in a million, sweet caring and so damn cute. I enjoyed their conversations and banter and sharing with each other. The story was well written and easy to like. Would like to read the next one. 4 stars

Emotionally compelling and hot!

Full disclosure, I'm a rocker chick. I obsessively watched MTV in its glory days and sat making mix tapes all night. So when I saw this book with its access to a rock band, I was in. But it was Trista and Lucky who stole the show here. Trista is damaged, but trying so hard to be whole, and Lucky is just the guy to help her. He's a total Southern gentleman in a hot package.

I also loved the road trip component of the book. Driving long hours on the road and seeing the country makes for some good reading when the characters are stuck together for days at a time.

Enjoyed the road trip with Trista and Lucky, their story was fun and easy to read, full of suspense and surprises. Will definately read the sequel when it comes out to find out more about Trista's little sister. I recommend this book.

About the Author

Eric Chaisson holds a doctorate in astrophysics from Harvard University, where he spent 10 years on the faculty of Arts and Sciences. For more than two decades thereafter, he served on the senior science staff at the Space Telescope Science Institute and held various professorships at Johns Hopkins and Tufts universities. He is now back at Harvard, where he teaches and conducts research at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Eric has written 12 books on astronomy and has published nearly 200 scientific papers in professional journals.

Steve McMillan holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics from Cambridge University and a doctorate in astronomy from Harvard University. He held postdoctoral positions at the University of Illinois and Northwestern University, where he continued his research in theoretical astrophysics, star clusters, and high-performance computing. Steve is currently Distinguished Professor of Physics at Drexel University and a frequent visiting researcher at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study and Leiden University. He has published more than 100 articles and scientific papers in professional journals.

Of the 10 weighty essays in this lengthy anthology edited by Yale University's Cott, perhaps the strongest is the opening piece, John Demos's incisive look at Native American women. Indian women, he points out, played a crucial role in the European settlement of North America: they made canoes for the traders, served as guides and translators, and participated directly in trade. In Jane Kamensky's essay on colonial women of European and African descent, we learn about demographics (just what did it mean for white women in the colonial Chesapeake that they were outnumbered by men?) and the complexity of colonial marriage. Kamensky also elucidatesDthough somewhat cursorily, Dthe hardships of slavery. Harriet Sigerman describes the 19th-century women's rights battles, looking at women's struggles to get an education, find meaningful work and, most importantly, gain the vote. Karen Manners Smith, writing about the fin-de-si cle, describes women's agitation for suffrage, the women's club movement and women's missionary activity. And in two rousing, if a touch triumphalistic, essays Elaine Tyler May and William H. Chafe introduce readers to women in the post-WWII era: suburban housewives, restless feminists, lesbian activists and ERA advocates. The volume is comprehensive, though perhaps already somewhat dated; it smacks of the 1980s cheerleading style of women's history, and does not reflect recent work that employs gender as a category of analysis rather than simply talking about women as a subject for historical analysis. Still, this volume will no doubt be read enthusiastically by armchair historians and be adopted for classroom use at colleges across the country. (Dec.)

From the Author
Why did I write My Toddler Talks? To help parents and professionals get their toddlers talking! When I first began treating toddlers who were delayed with their speech development, I struggled to find easy to understand, step-by-step guides for my parents to read. Collecting information from various resources was very cumbersome and trying -even then, I couldn't find practical and hands-on resources. So, I decided to write a workbook for my parents! My Toddler Talks is the culmination of several years of analysis of current research and work experience. I have completed all the play routines, performed all the techniques and strategies and continue to implement play routines and train current clients at my private practice Scanlon Speech Therapy, LLC.

About the Author
Kimberly is a New Jersey-licensed speech pathologist and is nationally certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a creative thinker and a passionate therapist who believes that children should have fun in therapy. Kimberly has had the opportunity to hone her skills by working in various settings serving all ages, populations, and disorders. She is a two time recipient of ASHA's award for continuing education (ACE). She graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science and earned her Master of Arts in Communication Disorders from Montclair State University.�

In addition to writing books and blog posts, Kimberly is busy running her private practice, Scanlon Speech Therapy. A life-long resident of Bergen County, NJ, Kimberly lives with her husband, Ryan, their delightful daughter Kerrigan, and their very cute but mischievous chocolate Labrador Retriever, Barney.

Amazing book!

My 2 year old son is in speech therapy, and this book really coincides with the techniques we are learning from the speech therapist. This is great for me to continue working with my son in our home - the ideas in this book are excellent, with great specific instructions. The introduction is a must read - do not skip!

This book has been helpful to me as I teach young children who have speech and other developmental delays. This book will also be helpful to parents and professionals who work with children ages 0-3 years. The writer describes specific activities that will help toddlers develop language and communication. Each activity includes a list of materials that are needed as well as an outline of steps in order to carry out the activity. This is a very practical and hands-on book that will guide you to help your child or student develop in language and in other areas of development. The writer describes how to work with young children in a patient, sensitive, and loving way in order for each child to develop at their own pace. The writer combines a very strong understanding of child development with practical activities to help your child or students develop language in a fun way.

To an anesthesiologist who practices pain control and management, Burchiel's book presents this endeavor with realism and pragmatism. Surgical Management of Pain is well organized, with broad coverage not only of surgical approaches to pain management but also of nonsurgical and pharmacologic methods of pain control. In fact, the general evaluation of pain and the nonsurgical management of pain are so well presented that the title of the book perhaps does it some injustice. There is also an unusual emphasis on the role of allied-health professionals in the management of pain. The list of well-known contributors to the book reads like a Who's Who in the field of pain management. They join in presenting a comprehensive approach, a variety and divergence of opinions, and actual experiences from situations encountered in practice. Each chapter is punctuated by boxes highlighting pearls that effectively emphasize the essence of each topic and includes a commentary by another authority, who not only provides another opinion or perspective on the topic but also expands on it and sometimes offers a divergent opinion or frank disagreement, making it plain that in many aspects of pain management, consensus is lacking or opinions are unequivocal. The chapters are also generally well documented, with up-to-date citations of works that are essential for a multidisciplinary study of the management of pain. The complications and aftereffects of surgery for pain are well presented, with coverage of the incidence of treatment failure or recurrence of the original pain. The resulting discomfort in such cases is emphasized, especially in the case of patients with prolonged or permanent neurologic deficits. It is extremely important for patients to have reversible pain control so that they will experience the sequelae of the surgical treatment. The book is not perfect. Several authors make an insufficient distinction between the pain due to cancer and chronic pain of non-neoplastic origin. I would also have appreciated a discussion of the timing of therapy: When should practitioners stop a nonsurgical method of pain control and resort to surgery, especially in cases involving cancer and other causes of intractable pain? The chapter on the use of controlled substances should have covered after-care procedures and the potential for drug abuse and misuse. This excellent book will interest anyone treating pain and pain syndromes, regardless of their specialty and regardless of whether they see patients whose primary symptom is pain or other patients. The material will be of value to those of all levels of expertise, from students to generalists, surgeons, and anesthesiologists and those who specialize in the day-to-day management of difficult, recurrent, and intractable pain. I bought this book as an ebook because I thought having it on my iPad would increase accessibility. However, there is no index. There is extremely poor navigation. A .pdf document navigates better. About the Author

One of England’s foremost filmmakers, Derek Jarman (1942–1994) wrote and directed several feature films, including Sebastiane, Jubilee, Caravaggio, and Blue, as well as numerous short films and music videos.
